Greetings, newcomer(s)!
If this is your first time here, welcome. If not, you must be from an alternate timeline because this is post #1. Let's cut to the chase. As a longtime sentimentalist, I've had a hard time letting go of things because, to me, they all hold sentimental value. Those (now) tiny basketball shorts I wore one time when I was on a team in 7th grade? Instant family heirloom. But at the same time, as a maximalist, I also get tempted by new, shiny things (extending well past just clothes and into hobbies and books).
Well today is a new today. I now live in the City, home of the Wedding Planner and Princess Diaries, and "space" is more of an idea my roommates and I daydream about rather than a thing that we actually have. Plus, I have unearthed a sewing machine from my college days, and it is high time I put it to good use. And why bother buying rolls of new fabric, when I have plenty already at my disposal, begging to be used. (Quick disclaimer, I actually don't know how to sew, so this is going to be a little embarrassing).
So this leaves us with the whole point behind this insufferable IG account. In the strange age of 2021, for the next 365 days, I have challenged myself to go through my closet in an attempt to either give away or upcycle the plethora of pieces that I have instead of purchasing new clothes (#sustainability). It was either this or get rid of my many Bridgerton novels, and you bet that I'm wheezing right now at the mere thought. (JK pls help save the earth by changing up your day-to-day habits). If you'd like to come along on this zany adventure, please hit that follow button. I also challenge you to think more sustainably and reflect on how much of your wardrobe you actually need and use.
